Good daughters always say yes to
their parents
This line
has always made me laugh out loudly. No one would find this funny but I have
always been amused n then had a hearty laugh on this.
Let me
explain:
Daughters always say yes to their parents (not
sons)
Who say yes
for everything are only good,
rest are not
Good
daughters always have a yes only for their parents
So
basically, this sentence is extremely
sexist for a person like me. It shouts acceptability by women/girls of
things that are thrown read thrusted on them. They are made to believe, rather
we engineer them from the very childhood that good/decent/ docile/full of
character girls always listen and adhere to what their parents have to say.
We all love
people who accept without questioning. And what best way to have our beautiful,
apple of our eyes, our very own daughters to accept anything and everything we
say to them.
And here is
where my inquisitiveness arises:
Why such
statements are not made for men/boys. They also listen to their parents, don’t
they? Or maybe if they admit that they do we label them as mamma’s boy or
non-macho men or too homely.
It’s all
boiling down to one thing” we are being too judgemental these days “and the
burden to prove oneself is taking a toll on individuals. The act to please the
other person is actually limiting our true character and making us lead a fake
life.
Girls/woman
who can’t defy society norms and actually find themselves trapped in them, end
up leading a dual life and often become a “YES MAN” for every situation in
life.
So my take
would be for you to ponder over
“good
children always say yes to their parents after satisfying their inquisitiveness
quotient on the matter concerned “
